Glossary

The teamwear vocabulary,
in plain English.

Short, plain-English definitions of the terms you'll meet when commissioning a custom football kit. Useful if you're new to kit-buying, or if you've been quoted something you weren't sure about.

GSM (fabric weight)

Grams per square metre — the standard measurement of how heavy a fabric is. Football shirts typically run 130–180gsm; Peaq uses 140gsm performance polyester.

Holographic finish

A metallic, light-refracting layer applied over a silicone badge so the surface shifts colour as the angle of light changes.

A small set of finished kit pieces in a couple of sizes, sent to a club after design sign-off so the squad can confirm fit before the full production run.

Silicone badges

Raised, rubber-style badges applied to a football shirt, made by curing liquid silicone in a mould of the design and heat-pressing it onto a sublimated base.

A printing process where dye is heat-pressed into polyester fabric, becoming part of the shirt rather than sitting on top of it.
